An Appeal to the Kenyan Electorate: Stay Focused and Hold the Government Accountable

Fellow Kenyans, as we prepare for the future, it is imperative that we reflect on the current state of our nation and the political dynamics at play. There is an increasing need to hold our government accountable and not allow ourselves to be distracted by power struggles and political schemes that do little to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. In recent times, we have witnessed concerning events and decisions that demand our attention and scrutiny. These issues not only affect our governance but also our quality of life, and it is up to us, the electorate, to ensure that we are not swayed by those seeking to settle political scores at the expense of our progress.

In this appeal, I urge you to remain focused and to interrogate the government on the following grounds: the unresolved Adan deal saga, the uncertainty surrounding the State Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the confusion caused by motions to impeach the Deputy President, and the consistent mismanagement of public funds under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF). These issues are critical to the future of our nation, and it is our responsibility to demand accountability and transparency.
1. The Adan Deal Saga: A Pending Issue That Deserves Scrutiny

The Adan deal saga has been an issue of great concern, yet it seems to have been conveniently swept under the rug by those in power. This is a deal that allegedly involved questionable agreements and possible misuse of public funds, yet to this day, no Member of Parliament has come forward to address it meaningfully. Why has this issue been ignored? Why are our leaders not demanding transparency in this matter?

As citizens, we must ask ourselves why our elected representatives, who are supposed to be our voice in government, remain silent on such a significant issue. Is it because they are more interested in securing their political alliances than in fighting for the truth? The lack of accountability in the Adan deal saga is a stark reminder that politicians often prioritize their interests over the well-being of the nation. This is a betrayal of the trust we placed in them, and we cannot afford to let it slide.

We must demand answers. We must demand transparency. The government owes it to us to explain what happened with the Adan deal and why it remains unresolved. As the electorate, we must refuse to be distracted by political games and power-sharing schemes that divert attention from such critical matters.
2. The Uncertain Future of the State Health Insurance Fund (SHIF)

Our healthcare system has long been in need of reform, and the introduction of the State Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) was supposed to be a step in the right direction. However, the destiny of this program remains uncertain, and the silence surrounding its future is deafening. SHIF was meant to provide affordable healthcare to millions of Kenyans, but its implementation has been marred by confusion and a lack of clear direction.

Health is a basic human right, and the state of our healthcare system affects every one of us. Yet, the government seems to be more focused on political infighting than on addressing the pressing needs of the healthcare sector. The uncertainty surrounding SHIF is not just an administrative issue – it is a matter of life and death for many Kenyans who rely on public healthcare services.

We must demand that the government provide clarity on the future of SHIF. What are the plans for its implementation? How will it benefit ordinary citizens? These are questions that need answers, and we cannot allow ourselves to be distracted by political theatrics while our healthcare system remains in limbo.
3. The Confusion Over the Impeachment Motions Against the Deputy President

In recent months, we have witnessed increasing confusion and controversy surrounding the motions to impeach the Deputy President of Kenya. While impeachment is a constitutional process meant to hold leaders accountable, in this case, it appears to be more of a political maneuver aimed at settling power-sharing scores rather than a genuine effort to improve governance.

How many times have we seen politicians use impeachment as a tool to divert attention from their failures? This is yet another example of how political leaders attempt to manipulate the system for their gain, distracting us from the real issues that affect our daily lives. Impeachment motions have become a way for politicians to mislead the public, creating a spectacle that shifts focus away from the mismanagement of public resources and other pressing matters.

For instance, how many times have we seen constituents threaten to demonstrate over the mismanagement of NG-CDF funds, which is not even part of the constitution? NG-CDF, meant to facilitate development at the grassroots level, has become a symbol of inefficiency and corruption, yet instead of addressing these issues, our leaders are more focused on power plays. We must not allow the impeachment process to be used as a smokescreen to cover up the failures of our government.
4. Political Mudslinging: A Tactic to Distract and Manipulate

One of the oldest tricks in the political playbook is mudslinging – attacking one's opponents to divert attention from one's own shortcomings. Unfortunately, this tactic has become all too common in Kenyan politics. As we approach the 2027 elections, we are likely to see an increase in these attacks, with politicians trying to discredit each other in the eyes of the electorate.

But we must not be fooled. The constant mudslinging we see is not about holding each other accountable; it is about distracting us from the real issues. It is a strategy to keep us divided and distracted while politicians continue to engage in corruption and mismanagement behind the scenes. We have learned the hard way that mudslinging does nothing to improve our lives – it only serves the interests of the political class.

In the lead-up to the 2027 elections, we must be vigilant. We must resist the temptation to get caught up in the political drama and instead focus on the issues that matter: healthcare, education, infrastructure, and the economy. We must demand better from our leaders, and we must hold them accountable for their actions.
5. The Call for Political Sanity in Kenya: Sweeping Out the Rotten Political Class

As we look to the future, it is clear that we need a political revolution – not in the form of violence or unrest, but in the form of a collective awakening. We need to sweep out the political class that has consistently failed us. For too long, we have allowed corrupt and self-serving politicians to lead us, only to be disappointed time and time again.

The time has come for us to demand a new kind of leadership – one that is focused on the well-being of the people rather than on power and wealth. We cannot afford to elect the same leaders in 2027. We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated by politicians who seek to settle scores and advance their interests. We have learned our lesson the hard way, and now it is up to us to act on it.

As fellow Kenyans, let us unite in our demand for accountability, transparency, and good governance. Let us refuse to be distracted by political schemes and power struggles. Let us interrogate the government on the issues that matter, from the unresolved Adan deal saga to the uncertainty surrounding SHIF, from the mismanagement of NG-CDF funds to the unnecessary impeachment motions.

We must sweep out the rotten political class if we are to bring sanity back to our nation. It is time for us to rise above the political mudslinging and power struggles that have held us back for too long. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and the future of this great nation.
Keep Your Eyes on the Real Issues

Fellow Kenyans, the choice is ours. We can either allow ourselves to be distracted by the political games being played around us, or we can stay focused on the real issues that affect our lives. The future of Kenya depends on our ability to hold the government accountable and to demand better from our leaders.

Let us not be swayed by those seeking to settle power-sharing scores. Let us keep our eyes on the prize – a better Kenya for all. It is time for us to demand accountability, transparency, and good governance. Together, we can create a brighter future for our nation.

Let us remain focused, let us remain vigilant, and let us remain united in our pursuit of a better Kenya.
