ELECTORATE SHOULD MAINTAIN THE STANCE OF TAGGING BETRAYAL AS ENEMY AND DISMISS UNTROSTHWORTH APOLOGIES

The recent behavior of certain Members of Parliament (MPs) who supported the controversial Finance Bill 2024 has drawn widespread condemnation. Initially, these MPs cast their votes in favor of a bill that promised to place undue financial burdens on the citizens they were elected to serve. In voting yes majority were pleasing the master or proofing loyalty to the boss but ignoring the electorate who had contri opinions to the bill. They trembled and could not independently think and speak their mind. The public decided to say no and protested after realizing betrayal by their representatives However, once the President, the patron of the Kenya Kwanza (KK) government, after considering the decision and will of the people was against it, He refused to sign the bill, these very MPs began a campaign of public apologies and monetary handouts, seeking forgiveness from their respective constituencies.

This duplicity is a stark betrayal of public trust. The electorate, who entrusted these MPs with their votes, now see through the veneer of their insincere apologies. It is evident that the support for the bill was driven by personal gain rather than the welfare of the people. These MPs, once confronted with the President's disapproval, swiftly changed their stance not out of genuine remorse, but to salvage their political careers.
The electorate must not be swayed by these superficial gestures. Apologizing and distributing money cannot erase the fact that these MPs were willing to pass a bill detrimental to their constituents. Such actions constitute a form of political treason, prioritizing self-interest over public good. It is imperative for the voters to recognize this pattern of behavior and respond decisively.

In future elections, the electorate should remember this betrayal. They should make informed decisions, opting for leaders with integrity and a proven track record of prioritizing public interest. The current crop of MPs, who have shown their true colors, should not be given a platform to betray the public trust again.

By refusing to listen to their apologies and monetary inducements, the electorate can send a strong message: political accountability is non-negotiable. Leaders must be held responsible for their actions, and those who sacrifice public welfare for personal gain must be shown the door.

In the end, true democracy thrives on the vigilance and active participation of its citizens. It is the duty of every voter to ensure that those who represent them do so with honor and integrity. The MPs who voted for the Finance Bill 2024, only to backtrack when it suited them, should hang their boots and make way for leaders who truly embody the principles of public service.
