DICTATORSHIP IS SNEAKING BACK TO KENYA
Kenya as a country after repealing section 2A of the colonial constitution was privileged to have multiparty democracy.
This is what led to Ford Kenya and other parties we have in kenya to be born.
Why did we seek for multiply democracy???
Several issues led to the desire to have this section repealed.
>political leaders needed a forum through which they could express their interest of giving alternative leadership. An opportunity that was denied in single party state
>it ought to seek political freedom in airing their views despite them being contrary to the ruling party.
The ruling party appeared to be marginalizing some ethnicity and regions in terms of resource allocation.
In 1992 this was achieved. Kenyans got this window and individuals had parties you can name them.....
Along the way those who were in opposition during the single party state knew what they wanted and why they wanted....
One party has right to oppose an opinion or an idea of another party. ....then that is called democratic right!!!
The question to pause here and now.... Does member of a given party have a right to give a different opinion from the rest of members within the same party?
That is called betrayal right ?? Then if so is the case we need to revise the definition if democracy.
How is it good to oppose a given party in opinion but betrayal when a fellow member in your party issues a different thinking!!!!!!
Human being have different IQ and thus reasoning may differ and the brain us the most lethal weapon why is it that this God Given asset ought to be controlled by humane.???
It is Ngugi wa thiong'o famous novelist who said that our mind ought to be decolonised but seemingly we are still colonized. To a point of worshipping some party officials to being the know it all......
"there is a sense in which we need to understand that wisdom does not come by parading your followers and telling them you are knowledgeable and thus should follow what you say. People will detect your wisdom by analysing what you share and how you handle situations."
Eviciration of that section will not have it's meaning if we are still in the era of pinning people within the party to follow what we say and deny them opportunity to interrogate what it is. Dictatorship begins as such.
And by the way if you are a student of history and you care to do research you will learn that most of those leading the party's that are in Kenya Kwanza Government are followers if not students of Late President Moi.
The current president H.E was a student of Moi in politics so was Hon Musalia Mudavadi and so was Rt. Hon speaker Moses Wetangula.
That is a fact and therefore they are products of a dictator.
In reference during the power sharing regime of 2007-2013 the late President kibaki policies were contradicted by Prime minister Hon Raila Odinga but was accepted in good faith.
During the NARC regime of 2002-2007 where parties had come together to form coalition it didn't mean that everything put forward by DP of Kibaki was accepted some we're opposed by coalition parties but there was respect. And that is why the 2005 draft constitution did not go through.
Did the coalition collapse?? It would appear that those who were in opposition during the single party seem to understand democracy better. Though to some extend they did not keep word especially during the coalitions.
It is in the public domain that in 2007 whether in ODM or PNU there were members who were not for power sharing but we're they compelled by party organs to submit show cause why for contradicting their party leaders???
During the Jubilee regime there were occasions where members differed in opinions but it never leaked to public domain except when the handshake loomed in...
The president and his Deputy differed on during the last regime 2017-2022 following the allowance of an intruder into their house without consultations. Hence creating a bridge where it ought not be. But that was affecting them as officials of party and government. Within the government it's in public domain that a deputy could oppose his boss and democracy allows as so. Refer to BBI of kenya.
Some co-principals in the then NASA brigade had a different opinion to the swearing in right?? But things moved n as a coalition though later following betrayal the coalition did not mature well. When sen Wetangula was denied the leader on monority in the senate but in the later events Hon Wetangula supported the NASA and handshake to the last.
Kenya kwanza had a different approach in handling issues which can easily be termed as dictatorship.
It is clear that the finance bill proposal was supposed to be supported by all members of the ruling coalition and opposed by all members of the latter coalition. I mean this is unprecedented in the history of modern civilization. A healthy legislator ought to have interrogated the bill independently and by extension consult his/her electorate and expert so that when he/she discuss the bill he/she does so from an informed point of view but in this case an order was issued !!!
It has become like treason for those who went opposite to their boss. Surmons are here by issued plans to suppress such leaders is on the hike!!! Why do this happen!???
1.Are we still promoting sycophant???
2.Supposing the opposition runs rogue can we not have members of the same government correcting it when it goes wrong?
3.Is it a single party state in the name of coalitions???
4.Why would such impunity be allowed to suppress the democratic right of individuals in this country?
5.Now suppose the executive inappropriate funds and opposition doesn't question the MP's who are pro-government should celebrate it?
6.Supposing the leading party in the coalition intimidates core-principals will they come to electorate to report of betrayal or it will be treated as a norm??
7.Why can't the core-principals have independently say and advice in the leadership or are they given favours ???
It is good to note that sometimes in such scenario a wise leader ought to consider several factors for who knows what tomorrow has..... It is too early to start throwing scanner into the wax.....you may be tempted to weaken your party only to wreck you the next day... Clarion call to some leaders who are celebrating and supporting party division within Ford Kenya ....you may not realize the mistake until when you set eyes on the real snake that is when you learn the importance of a rod you threw just 200 yards away.....councel of wisdom is needed.
Socrates when the oracle moved through Greece wanting to know who was the wisest person that ever lived... On reaching to socrates and asked what do you know? He said " the only thing I know is I know that I know nothing" and for that declaration only he was declared the most wisest man that ever lived in Greece.
This kind of politics will not salvage this nation to realise it's rightful position in the globe because that is where competition is. Stop internal fights focus on more important issues if the following is true then you see why .....it is good to keep shut.
