THE MOST LETHAL WEAPON IN THE WORLD IS THE MIND WHICH IS FREE FROM MANIPULATION

As Steve Biko the South African said " I write and say what I like." he was addressing the idea of the mind being recognized advocating the freedom of the mind to think freely and give opinions that could either agree with the regime or go contrary without intimidation. He said this at a time when South Africa was under the apartheid regime of President De Klerk. Where citizens of that country were mistreated based on racism. Black South Africans could not have a say or rights those who agitated in the negative were arrested and forced into exile like Oliver Tambo, and Mandela Nelson exiled to Robben Island. Umkhonto we size army in Zimbabwe. It was echoed by Abraham Tiro who question the differentiation in the kind of education that was given to the blacks....which was not similar to that given to whites within the same country.
When such policies of mistreating a section of natives in a given country by a government happens then agitation will be experienced by individuals whose minds are free. During the reign of President John F Kennedy of USA, The negro felt unsatisfied with the government segregating the blacks. Hence the institution of the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King Jr
Whose mission was to seek equity.
After independence in Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere welded his country together urging them that despite the diversity of tribes they were bound together and hence ought to learn to live together as brothers. The Tanzanians were given civic education on the need of moving as a nation and finding ways of sourcing resources that could help the government-run its affairs. That is what ought to be emulated.
Within our beloved nation we have had policies, initiatives like the BBI, and Bills like the recent Finance bill even the constitutions referendum like the 2005 & 2010 constitutions which were directly touching the common mwananchi. This noble idea was freely debated both in the Houses of Representatives and bunge la mwananchi without strings attached. Some were rejected by the supreme power of the land who are the people. The 2005 while some were passed like the August 2010 constitution which is currently the supreme law of the land.
The BBI through the court process was thrown and the people of Kenya stood tall to appreciate the Judiciary for its independence in exercising this vital duty. The majority of those dynasties were supporting the initiative including the government whose personalities are known. However among them, some felt that it wasn't a good initiative for the common mwananchi and the majority of the citizens were claiming it was a bad thing......when it fell leaders who were sympathizing with the mwanainch got tall...including the then DP of the republic of Kenya. He had differed with his boss home he was deputizing the then CEO of the nation Uhuru Kenyatta but since people under the supreme law of the land had rights and freedoms there was that leeway unlike when we had the colonial constitution and regime of KANU where wisdom and knowledge were only immortalized to the President and his advisors so whenever one differed with any policy by the government then you became the enemy of the government.
Thanks to God that wisdom presided over the late H.E Moi that in 1992 he was persuaded to repeal section 2A thus allowing multiparty democracy in Kenya hence giving birth to FORD-Forum For Restoration of Democracy party of Kenya. Which later split in 1994 to give FORD-K by Late Jaramogi Odinga and FORD Asili by Late Kennedy Matiba. It was through the lethal weapon of great icons such as Masinde Muliro, Wamalwa Kijana, James Orengo, and George Captain, that lead the FK party to survive. Following the fact that it was a relay race handing the button to other generations other individuals came to the stage like mukhisa kituyi, musical Kombo, Moses Wetangula, and others. Through the Forum for Restoration of Democracy, FORD other parties evolved like LDP, DP, NDP, and New-Ford Kenya some of which collapsed or merged with other coalition
But the Ford-K party is the living parted guarded by the gods of multipart in Kenya. during its dying stages for it had reduced to the point of having one member of parliament in 2007 Hon Eseli Simiyu under the Leadership of Baba wa Roma Rt Hon Moses Masika Wetangula the party is growing should democracy continue to prevail this party is extending to other regions like Busia, Kakamega, and thus nationally provided the strategy is kept updated. and that is how the party leader of such an oldest party and most vibrant which is icon of democracy in our nation will rise to give a President of the Republic of Kenya
Meanwhile, I would want to question the meaning of the letter D of the word FORD. If it means Democracy ......then to what extent are members supposed to play their democratic rights.??
Finance Bill has aroused so many misunderstandings between the government and its affiliates and equal opposition with its affiliates.
It is a bill that is well-intentioned by the government to curb external borrowing to run its functions but instead, use revenue collected to run its affairs.
Varied interpretations have been brought forth causing individuals to have different opinions.
All opposition brigades wanted the bill opposed and thus any member of the opposing side is expected to go against it. The ruling affiliate holds the view that there are areas that need amendments while there are those who feel that since it's from the government and the government had the wisdom and knowledge then it's good.
The media being the latter-day town crier...who was the bearer of the torch that whenever a community went astray he would bring the searchlight to direct them to the right track. The media invited experts to educate the country about the same bill and through those teachings, the community was made aware of its outcomes. Following this fact, some elected leaders decided to do consultations with their bosses who are the electorate on the way forward.
The primary role of an elected member of parliament is representation a role that requests a leader to always consult with his bosses on what to do through public participation so that he represents exactly what his people want. Here is where the rod meets the rubber. Hon Majimbo Kalasinga seems to have understood this singular role well. Despite being in a ruling affiliate, he decided to also consult the electorate of the Kabuchai constituency on how to address that matter.
The people of Kenya are the electorate thus, the bosses of all elected leaders. Having been civically educated through the media decided that the bill was nerd to be amended......people of Kabuchai constituency inclusive asked their MP to  vote to that bill unless amendment are done to it. Lethal weapon is a mind that is not colonised!!!!
The represents a of the said constituency did as directed by his bosses. Not unless he did not know who his boss was but the people of kabuchai said no. Through their representative. Being a member of the  ruling affiliate majority of the dynasty are saying he was wrong.....but meanwhile the general citizenry residing from Bungoma are chanting in celebration of this leader. He stood his ground not because he betrayed anyone but because he knew his role of representation and did exactly that. Anyone questioning Hon majimbi kalasinga should go and question the people of kabuchai.
He remains a hero and will become a darling if his electorate. By extension survey indicates that even the neighbouring constituencies admit that he was the real representation of what the ground is saying.
Ground vitu ni different...........
Joseph De Kraft' famous play "muntu" reminds us of this undemocratic notion of punishing individuals who deny the philosophy of monopoly of wisdom ...that we do things because so and so has said...!!!! That we vote either yes or no because the son of muntu has said???
In this play ...de kraft says that even the professors, philosophers, philosopher kin, academia, people of high learning, writers of letters have cued before the second son of muntu...where it doesn't matter who or how far you have scaled but you still come to worship before the ethnic or religious or political leader without question.then this is a tragedy of high levels and here is where Ngugi wa Thiong' says our minds are colonised we need to have our mind decolonized so that we can impartially interogates ideas before making a conclusive decision.
When the majority thought they had left the Egypt of yesterday....its a bit unfortunate to learn that that Egypt is still living in us.

  1. Well put. Independence of opinion should be embraced by all. Meanwhile when united you move miles but when divided it is impossible to go a mile.
