REMAINING AWAKE AMIDST A GREAT REVOLUTION
As prof Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka said in his book the man died.....the man in you must Never die and in this context, the man includes the woman
Kenya is faced with multiple challenges several transformations and drastic changes. Many will alide that it is a global revolution but I wish to somehow disagree with such an analogy for some of these issues are problems of our creation.
I believe many of us have read that little story from the pin of Washington Irving titled RIP VAN WINKLE he went to the kirt skill mountains where he slept for 20 years. When he went to the forest he left the picture of King George the 3rd of England but while there a great revolution was happening for he came back he found the picture of George Washington the 1st President of the USA. Rip van Winkle was completely lost he knew not who he was. He slept through a great revolution.
Many people find themselves living amid a great period of social change and they fail to develop new attitudes and new mental responses that the new situation demands thus ending up sleeping through a revolution.!! LET US STOP IT. LET US WAKE UP. Kenya IS IN A GREAT REVOLUTION WE NEED NOT SLEEP!
We are faced with a triple revolution
1. Economic revolution - where our country had never experienced tax rise on the citizenry who now ought to cope with it as a way of life that the government said it aimed at reducing borrowing from outside thus we carry the burden by ourselves.
2. Political revolution- a political model was introduced in Kenya that sort to change the notion of ethnic voting blocs but turned into a dynasty against the vast majority of hustlers. This was noted in the 2022 campaigns. However, as to whether this political change will results in improving the lives of poor Kenyans is a debate that Historians will grapple with at a future date.
3. Social Revolution - in which the majority of the electorate tends to be noting the trend at which the politician use and dump them for their interest
The agenda of the political class had now changed from the real manifestation that was sold to the common mwananchi into fixing their deals right from grassroots leaders to the national level. The agenda of those who appear to be pushing the common man agenda is perhaps that his/her interest has not yet been met.
The Bible says "Behold I make all things new, former things have passed away"
Kenya is undergoing a paradigm shift that has left Kenyan unawares if not then Kenya's sleeping through a great revolution I submit that No individual can live alone, and No nation can live alone thus anyone imagining that he can live alone is sleeping through a revolution
We as a nation must learn to live together as brothers or we shall all perish as fools. For we are tied together in this single garment of destiny caught up in a single screw of mutuality where .....whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.
I can never be what I want to be until you are what you what to be and you can never be what you want to be until I am what I want to be this is the way God universes men. Hence no man is an island. - if we are to remain awake through a revolution then we must see this, accept this and live by this
Ethnicity and slavery are still a poor man's burden and a Rich man's shame......for it is the poor who are doctrine to believe and think according to ethical lines for the benefit of the rich whose appetite for political leadership is completely insatiable the vast majority of the Kenyan people; spoken or unspoken, acknowledged or denied, settled or unsettled the virus of Ethnicity and social slavery has derailed them for a long time now
There is nothing urgent that Kenya took passionately and unrelentingly to get rid of the disease something must be done to curb this venom that has eaten our country since independence widening the gap between the rich and the poor.
Everyone must show guilt as an individual or as an institution. Government must show guilt, individuals must show guilt and even the church must show guilt.
I wish to submit that we must get rid of certain myths. Particularly the myth of time
Mostly whenever we the electorate have been plunged into the abyss of despair by this politician giving us an unarchivable blueprint during campaigns we chant in celebrations because we are looking for the handouts issues after the long speeches. But fail to interrogate the manifestations issued. And immediately after the game is over the politician goes to his troop we sing in lamentations ohh ohh... Next election is not far next election is not far..... This is a tragedy of a gigantic proposition.
The forces of evil who are the people on the wrong side have used time much more effectively than those on the good side
We shall have to repent not merely because of the bad deeds or severe actions of the bad people but for the appealing silence of the good people who sit and say let's wait for the right time.....no the time is now!!!
Meanwhile, we shall be in this social stagnation for longer than we wished.
If we shall have to give a meaningful Kenya whose future generations will celebrate and appreciate the works of preceding generations then something needs to be done and the most urgent thing to be done at this point is staying awake amid this great revolution.
If we remain awake we shall not be subdued anymore. Say no to ethnicity .....say no to discrimination ....say no to imbalanced resource allocation ....say no to corruption....say no to social, political, and economic injustice.....
