Tragedy Of Tongaren Constituency.

I analyze the Bungoma East constituency of 1964 when the late Hon Mark Barasa was a member of parliament. When the country was toddling from the York of colonialism under the KANU regime.
During this era, there was no CDF nor devolution and the country was de facto underH.E late Jomo but some traces of development were realized among them the Panpaper in Webuye, Lugulu High School in Webuye Chesamisi High School in Kimilili and Friends School Kamunsinga still in Kimilili.  His service to humanity was shallowly felt in the upper party and hence marred with a regional imbalance in terms of resource allocation.  History doesn't remember him fondly
Then there came Hon Elijah Mwangale who was manning the Kimilili constituency he is mostly known for statements such as "tenaaa" During his tenure little was done about the development of the constituency but only could appear when elections were nearing issuing salt to women, biscuits to children and 20 bobs to men then got re-elected. He was a great cabinet minister during the era of the late H.E Daniel Moi. Very vibrant and influential in the regime but one would struggle to pinpoint something that the residents can celebrate him and thus fondly remember him.it is only in the books of history that Hon Elijah Mwangale was the MP and minister in the regime of KANU.
Following a lot of agitation and opposition from the region and following the introduction of multi-partyism in Kenya in 1992 he wasn't given another chance. The regional imbalance was recorded during his regime despite nothing much having been done to those areas believed to have benefited from him.
Then there can Hon Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi taking the button from the "tenia" man though working in the opposition party FORD that later in 1994 changed to Ford Kenya under Late Hon Wamalwa Kijana Mukhisa was a vibrant opposition in the parliament who seemed to be very sober of what a government ought to run its affairs.
He was a keen politician who as almost no allegation on him in terms of corruption but then seemed to be unconcerned about his people. He joined in opposition up to 2022 when he was part of the team that formed the government. Under President late H.E Mwai Kibaki he was privileged to serve this nation as the Trade minister but very minimal can be remembered of him. The most notable is his statement that power if brought will kill the people. He later transcended to party politics after the death of the Late Hon wamalwa kirana. Between him and Hon Musikari Kombo party power had gone into mind this forgetting the primary obligation. Still under the leadership of Kibaki but the residents of the Kimilili constituency were tired. They voted him out still with minimal traces of the job done but regional imbalance. So "owakifumbusia" had to leave the stage.
In 2007 we had Hon Dr. Simiyu Eseli come in but in government, under H.E. late Kibaki having taken the button. He got risen to the position of the SG in the Ford Kenya party following the fallout between Hon Kombo and Hon Wetangula.
Hon Eseli was lucky that during his era, there was the introduction of CDF   introduced through the act of parliament. Something can be pointed out about development within the Tongaren constituency but still had traces of regional imbalance like Soysambu/ mutual ward has nothing to celebrate or fondly remember him. The only thing he can hang on to is Mitua Girls but then considering KMTC Ndalu, Upgrading Ndalu Health Centre with an ambulance, upgrading kalimba health center with an ambulance, Miller in Tongaren 50m stimulus program in Naitiri west sugar in Naitiri, coffee factory in Naitiri, Nabing'eng'e TTI, the stadium in mbakalo and many others needless to mention including several buses to secondary schools despite purposely neglecting AIC James mi.
By the end of 15yrs of his tenure, some regions can't find a single thing to celebrate Hon Eseli in 2022
After him we have a new kid on the block Hon Dr. John Chikati who has tried for several election competitions but failed though now is allowed to display his antics. He is doubling up as the SG of Ford Kenya under the leadership of Hon speaker Moses Wetangula. I submit that he is mindful of history rarely remembering those who proceeded him.
It is a story that the future will grabble with to analyze what he has done meanwhile he is mindful of the fact that all regions voted for him and thus they except equal allocation of resources. Being in government too it's necessary to uniquely be rated against other leaders before him who despite being in government nothing can history rem them.
I submit that we start thinking in an Orthodox way just like Muhammad Ali who never went to school but was just a boxer but could soberly think. When one time he was told
That a deer was crossing the road he said no it was the road crossing the forest the home of the deer this which was crossing which.
Hon Chikati will have something to be remembered if he convinced the National Government to at least tarmac turbo to Kiminini amongst doing something important to those imbalanced regions within the constituency.
It is the fear of causing an offense that makes men swallow poison- it is in the interest of the vast majority to wake up and put all elected leaders to account. Right from the grassroots to the presidency.
We have many who live on hand to mouth daily and when they elect their leaders they expect good feedback but not playing with them the later day Robenhoodism
Meanwhile the later day Robinhood was at least better for he only used to rob the rich and share with the poor contrary to the current Robenhoods to rob the poor and give a pittance to the very poor
Appeal to us is that Hon Dr. Chikati seems conscious and very keen to keep his lane he will deliver meanwhile patiency is necessary just like his predecessors for him being mindful that nothing much can be remembered of them he will do much since he is a student of history he will want to perform so that history remembers him.
